We recognize the importance of indigenous peoples and local communities in our economic, environmental and cultural future. Our food, water resources, forests, rangelands and wildlife populations depend on their stewardship. By honoring, preserving and sharing ancient ecological knowledge and cultural traditions, encouraging wiser resource stewardship through education, leveraging social justice initiatives and enabling capacity-building investments, we can overcome systemic challenges and ensure community vitality and viability for generations to come.
